Should I be concerned with missing front brake retaining clips? 850 1994

I posted a variation on this question last week and I still need more info. I replaced the front pads and rotors on my '94 850 wagon and when I pulled the wheels I realized that neither side had any retaining clips/springs for the outer pads. I continued and everything seems to be fine, should I be concerned? Should I get some and install them?
All advice is appreciated.
