Paul,
We are having a Florida day in MN. 85+ in the shade with dew point above 70. Guess what, my AC started to blow warm air. When I parked at the local ice arena (60 inside) I let the car idle. Compressor turning 100% of the time, no cycling. The high pressure side was cold, the low pressure was hot at the firewall. There was almost a waterfall coming out from the bottom of the car. I looked for about 15 minutes, finding nothing wrong, closed the hod and went to watch my daughter practice and cool off.
On the trip home, the AC stared to work and then began warming up. Darn! So I down shifted to 2 and got the revs up to 3k. If I kept the revs above 2500, the AC worked again cooling the car off. I haven't been able to check the pressure on the low side yet.
Try keeping the car's rpm up on very hot humid days when you are only going 30-40mph.
