Recommendations for purchasing a used Cross Country

What is the most reliable of the Volvo XC Cross Country models? Am looking to replace an aging Subaru AWD Legacy wagon wifemobile with a Volvo of equivalent size or larger. Does Volvo have a Cross Country model that can offer the high dependability of the Subaru Legacy all-wheel drive models? For now, she'd like to try out one of the Volvo models, but wants to keep the investment under $10K for a decent used unit. Is this realistic or not? What model/year do you suggest?
