First post, considering a Volvo

turbo is the way to go.

Having said that, my number one rule in buying a new car is to avoid the first year production of a new model. This is the first year for the redesigned S40 sedan and the new V50 wagon. New production lines have a few bugs/quirks initially, and take a couple of years to iron out.

The S60 is a more reliable car and has had good reviews. If I were you I would stay away from the 94/95 V50 for now and go for the S60 nonturbo, if price vs the turbo is significant.
