ECU upgrade for the 2.5 and 2.9 XC90 XC90

Hi guys,

I received a question regarding the ECU upgrade for the XC90 and I thought I'd start a post on just this subject matter, so we might flush out some more info on the subject.

IPD will upgrade your ECU for similar power gains, by increasing boost from 8 to 14 PSI, and this only happens when you keep your foot planted on the gas pedal, in the event you need the addl power and boost. IPD however, requires you to remove your ECU and ship it to them, and then wait for it to come back. The Engstrom unit comes in a little memory plug-in unit, and you're off in a moment with no wait. You can also push a button and go back to the original setting, so this seems quite an advantage. See the graphic image I've included in this post, you can see the Engstrom unit (BSR) just plugs into the diagnostic port inside the cabin, and you don't even have to lift the hood.

Note the addl power numbers from Engstrom, see link below.
