Haynes Repair Manual only says to take the car to a professional to get the AC worked on. It is possible to overcharge the system an hurt it (I think). All I did was get the R134a and a fill tube from a car parts supplier, like Autozone or Checker, and ask them where the low pressure line was. Been doing it ever since. Volkswagens were easier to get at.
