PNP switch 850

So, I get the arrow blinking and the tranny trying to start out in 3rd gear .

I follow the procedure and shift from low to park 20 times and the problem goes away .

2 questions .
Usually ,how long does this quick fix last .

Does the dealer have to reset the blinking arrow .

If its too expensive to reset that's ok .
I own 2 - 850's and one more light on the dash is no big deal.
