In many ways you are better off with the run-of-the-mill vehicle. That is, without a huge number of options and extras. Every extra is an opportunity for failure. See Jamie Kitmans' article entitled Crapulent Luxury inside the back cover of AUTOMOBILE Magazine about 4 months ago..good reading for anyone wondering why the electronic gizmos don't work ,.....even in very costly vehicles! His last word..about the Mercedes mechanic saying they're still writing code for vehicles already in the field is "telling"! Think about it: A manufacturer thinks he'll trump the competiton by offering 65 great electronic featues, versus last years' 45. All involve hardware development, software development, and testing to ensure operaqbility despite operation in a signal-rich environment, that ranges from -50C to about 50C, with wide variations in humidity too.. Then factor in the vicious schedule limitations of any automotive project, quoting by the least costly vendors, and you have a recipe for very poor dependability!!!!!!
