transmission swap thrown code, pleaes 850

hallo... i'm at work , and do not have lots of time to search for the answer which may be here, so i was wondering, please... if anyone could explain to me how to clear the *code* displayed on my stereo for the CHECK ENGINE lamp? ... i had a transmision failure, and swapped with a used one... can i enter a code myself, or must i visit an auto store to clear it with the scanner?

ps-- apparently the other transmission wasn't very old... hmmm... this makes number three... also, i had the rear seal replaced although the other was still rubbery, i've read so much here about doing it-- makes sense...
