Rear O2 fault code and dead check engine light 850 1997

Hello-

I just took our 1997 855T5 to get smogged. It passed everything with flying colors except for the check engine light.

According to the OBDII connector on the smog machine, the CE light should be on. It's not, and doesn't come on when the car is first started. Obviously, either the light is burned out or the ECU and/or wiring is fouled up.

How likely is this to be a problem other than the bulb?
How big of a PITA is it to replace the bulb?

Secondly, the CE light is from Fault Code P0137 O2 Sensor Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2).

The car has 111K on it. Is it just time for a new O2?
Are the front and rear O2's the same? My mechanic suggested putting the new one in front and the old front in the rear.
Any recommendations for a replacement? I understand OEM ones are $150 or so.

To make things worse, I just bought the car, so I'm trying to work things out with the seller...

Thanks!
