Just installed a muffler... 850

My wife got me a hydraulic jack and two stands for father's day. So today I bought a new muffler, jacked up the car, and crawlwed underneath. I had the car up about 14 inches off the floor. Snapped off the bolts for the clamp, I bought two new bolts and a new clamp just incase. Took off the hanger brackets, because it was easier than trying to get the rubber hangers off the muffler's brackets. Took off the rear hangers, pulled the exhaust apart and pushed.

Well, there isn't much room to get the rear of the exhaust past the brake lines and coil springs, so I broke off the metal hanger straps. Then I pushed and pulled, pushed and pulled, and eventually got the exhaust out of the car. Then I got the new pipe and it wouldn't fit. I couldn't get it past the frame parts to get it up into the wheel well.

My jack goes to 21 inches, so I maxed it out and let it rest on the stands at 20 inches off the ground. Not what I really like to do. With 1/4 inch to spare, the pipe now went around the suspension parts and brake lines without breaking anything, except sweat. Whew. Home free. A new hanging bracket for the rear, hang the pipe; hang the muffler back up, and grab the new bracket and screws. But the parts guy gave me the wrong length screws. Search too box, find two which will fit for a while and call it done. Oh, I also ordered a new extension, oval, which I had to polish first.

3 hours, should have been less than two, but now I know better. Nice and quiet and the milage went up. Oil change tomorrow - Synthetic 0W-40.

I wonder how cost effective it would be to get an electric lift installed?
