V70 RMS leaking... V70-XC70 1998

Charles,

What symptoms do you have that lead you to believe that you must replace the rear main seal? While the board has seen lots of posts regarding 850 seals, I don't think there are many for 1998 and beyond V70s. My 98 V70XC has a "one-a-day" oil drip, and I posted previously asking about the chance that it was the rear main seal. "Chrissij", one of the most authoratitive source on the board, said he never changes these seals on a 98. More likely causes of an oil leak are:

1) leaking turbo oil return line O-ring
2) Old oil cap gasket
3) some other stuff related to 98-specific oil pan leaks

Maybe I have not accurately analyzed all the data, but I am betting my leak is either from #1, #2, or a combination of both.

Good luck.
