Unsettling 'growling' noise with cold starts V70-XC70 1998

I have a V70 awd '98 w/62K miles. Recently, over the last couple of days or so, when I start the car in the morning, there is a rumbling/growling noise that comes from the engine compartment. All fluids are at correct levels and belts seem to be tight, and the noise diminishes as the engine warms up and then disappears once the car has been running for a few minutes. Does anyone have any similar experience or suggestions? (The car seems to be performing and running fine; it might be my imagination, but it MIGHT be running a little louder than normal). Thanks, as always!
