1998 S70 strange engine noise

Hi all,

I own a 1998 S70 Volvo, 49k miles. Recently, every time I accelerate I hear a funny noise, similar to the one made by something spinning rhytimically. The sound stops when I lift my feet from the gas pedal. Since the car had the timing belt replaced three weeks ago, I wonder whether the noise is caused because the belt has not been adjusted properly.

Your advise is greatly appreciated.
