Power seat troubles.... seat back stuck reclined 850 1994

Howdy folks... hopefully someone here can help. I'm a lurker over on teh vintage pages, but don't make it here to the FWD sections.

Anyhow, a friends 850 turbo got the seat sorta reclined by a child, and now it won't come back up. The switch seems OK... If I click forward, the motor goes for a second. If I click backwards, the motor goes continuously.

But the seat don't move in either direction. I'm assuming stripped gears or something... Is there any way to manually bypass the electric feature just to get teh seat back up? Or is it a potentially easy fix?

Thanks for any insights!
