The Flame Trap is part of the crankcase ventilation system. It is plastic plug about the diameter of a quarter and maybe a half-inch thick with maybe twenty little holes drilled in it. The link below is for Volvospeed - check Repairs/Maintenance and enter Bay 13. The third article under "Engine" describes how to replace your Flame Trap. The unit can be cleaned or replaced (under $4 at your Volvo dealership) and the ventilation system will breathe as designed. If the Flame Trap is clogged up, it can cause your RMS to leak.
