Power seats 850

Look at previous posts on this issue. The seat recliner often fails because the cable end comes out of the motor or gearbox. The cable is too short for the housing. On Bay13 (volvospeed.com) are instructions for replacing the cable. I followed them but I found that the cable had nothing wrong with it. I just shortened the housing at the motor end by about 5 mm (using a hacksaw) so I could push the existing cable firmly into the motor shaft coupling. I put a shim behind the remaining part of the housing so it would not be able to back itself out later. Seat reclines fine so far. You do need to follow the instructions about "calibrating" or matching the rotational range of the motor to the actual angle of the seat back. If your car has a side airbag the motor will be on the left. The airbag trigger is near the power seat buttons, and be careful not to disturb it.
