Looking to buy V70-XC70

I don't own a V70, but I am interested in getting one as my next volvo. I'm not too knowledgeable about what the best years are for the V70, but based on what I have read, most people here who have ownership experience will say that the '98-'99 (maybe '00) have bugs in them. so they recommend the '01+ models since many of the bugs have been taken care of. if you ask me, I prefer the look and body design of the first generation models. they're more affordable, to boot!
