Gas smell in cabin 850

Hi, I was asked to look at a friend's 94 850 non-turbo and to recommend what service may be required. I am not too familiar with 850's but I own and service my own 240's.
One problem was the smell of gas in the cabin while driving with windows down or sunroof open. It was very bad and almost instant as you started to drive. I checked all lines and could not find a leak or smell gas fumes. Removed the access plate to the tank sender(?) and did not smell any gas while car running. I did find that the flame trap and small vacuum hose were plugged (explains the oil leaks), hose from airbox to throttle body was cracked, and air filter was filthy. I remedied these and the gas smell almost went away. It seemed to be solved but is becoming more noticeable again. Does the air intake or flame trap functioning cause the leak of gas vapours? This car only has 120,000 kilometers.

I appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks, Erich Zappe
