Ball Joint Replacment 850

I got new tires for my 1996 855T. When I went to have them mounted, balanced, and get the wheels aligned, the person doing the alignment said the ball joints were sufficiently worn that they were having problems holding the alignment. Since the shop doing the alignment and my mechanic are different shops (and I assume they are no in cahoots) and since my 855T has 160k+ miles, I think the assessment is probably true. When quoted for the work, my mechanic priced out complete control arm assemblies rather than just the ball joint. Considering the mileage on the car, would this be a good course of action?

Thanks in advance,
Eric
