front strut bushing 850

Ignore my previous post, I got the rears removed and installed. I did the fronts but something doesn't look right. The rubber bushing which is on the top of the strut is about 1/2" higher than the top of the strut mount. In other words there's a gap and they're not touching. Is this normal or did I do something wrong ? Just took the car for a ride and it seems ok. I don't think it was like this before when I took them apart. I did one side at a time and laid out the parts in order as they came off. Is it some sort of a bump stop ?
