Timing Belt 850

This is our first 5 cylinder. I figure we have wll over a million miles on Volvo 4 cylinders. Where can I get tools to service the serpintine belt? Can I change my own timing belt like I did on the 4 cylinders? What is the water pump life like on the 5 cylinders. We bought a 1997 850 wagon, non turbo. ALL of my experince is on 4 cylinders.
The transmission has a shift pattern that we do not like. There is no Kick down cable to adjust. We changed the fluid. ???????????
