Modification advice -- Non Turbo 855 850

Seeking advice on modifications for a non-turbo 1996 855 GLT. What I would like to do is maintain driveability and reliability while kicking performance up a notch or two.

So far, I am running set of Titans shod with Falken Ziex XE-512s (205-45-17), and TME strut brace. Save for a very slight increase in harshness over rough roads, I am very pleased with the tractability, lack of noise, etc. with this setup.

Ride height is under consideration (progressive springs only, though). In addition, I'm curious about open element air filter units, and ECU changes. I also foresee an exhaust, but out-of-the-box options are limited there.

Would love to hear what has worked for you. Again, it still needs to function as the family wagon, so it can't become too twitchy or tempermental.

Many thanks.
