False Display of 'Low on Gas ' warning light 850 1996

Hello,

I know this is the V70 board, but the query I'm about to post, I'm hoping that someone else has had the same experience because of the similarity between the 850 wagon and V70. I have a 1996 850 GLT wagon with a 5 speed. It has a 150,000 on it. Recently, after I fill up the gas tank (with the engine off) as I turn on the engine and left the gas station, within in a minute or two, the "low on gas" warning light comes on and stays on. The only way to shut it off, is to pull over and turn the engine off. When I start the engine, the "low on gas" warning light goes off.

Has anyone else had this experience? If so, what is the solution? Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Hugh
