False display of 'low on gas' warning light V70-XC70

Hello All,

I know this forum is dedicated to V70s, but I was hoping somebody my have an answer to a recent problem that has developed on my 1996 850 GLT wagon (5 speed). The car has a 150,000 miles on it. Recently, the following happens:

I go to fill up the car with gas. I turn off the motor. Fill up the tank. Start the engine, and within a minute or two, the "low on gas" warning light comes on and stays on. The only way I can shut it off, is to pull over, turn the engine off and then re-start it. At that point, the "low on gas" light goes out. Has anyone had this experience? If so, what was the solution?

Thanks to everyone who replies.

Hugh
