Securing a canoe on top of an 850 wagon 850

Hello. I don't have a canoe but I frequently put a tandem kayak on the roof of my 854 sedan. I like to use the tie-down loops on the front and rear under the bumpers and I also use lash straps/webbing on the front and rear load bars - doubled over the top of the kayak. I've found thats pretty secure (shake the boat and the whole car moves) and I can drive around 70 mph on the freeway without any trouble. I have never seen any damage to my bumpers or the hood from the webbing that I use. Maybe that would be different with rope. By the way - I can't recommend webbing enough - get the ones from a sporting good store that have the clamps on them with a quick release so that you can pull/tighten and they won't release until you want them to. It will save you a lot of time over conventional rope and you'll find that you use them all the time.

Good luck,

Rob
