Transmission, no reverse 850 1995

My transmission has been shifting hard into reverse for sometime, checked fluid (good), no codes so I attributed it to being normal. Just returned for a trip over the weekend, car drove fine. Tried to start it this morning and it's in the limp home mode worse it does not shift into reverse. It does not engage, reverse light come on but gear does not engage. I checked and there are no codes, I disconnected battery for about 30 mins and reconnected still no reverse. Any ideas? I'm thinking that my indie will be getting his Christmas present way early.
