How well does it do on steep driveway in winter? 850

My wife's FWD V70 with winter tires is very competent in snow. No trouble at all getting around in Boston area snow last winter. We don't have a steep driveway, but I think with winter tires, you'll have no problem. In my opinion, winter tires make a bigger difference in the snow than all-wheel-drive does (although, AWD with winter tires would be pretty unstoppable).

Anyway, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't rush to replace the 855 just for this reason. I'd keep it for one winter (or one snowstorm at least) to see how it does, and if it struggles too much up the driveway, then think about replacing it.
