Transmission flush or not. 850 1995

I find myself in this dilemma whether to change it or not. The tranny fluid is brown, and does have a slight to medium burnt smell. The shifting of the transmission is sometimes rough on the upshift (the entire car jerks for a split second only). I would love to change the fluid and believe the tranny will hold up for another 60-70,000 miles after the flush. Has volvo changed their stance on no maintenance required for the tranny?
