1997 T5 Tire Size

I have 205/50/16's on my 97 T5 Wagon. I noticed in the gas flap that it shows 205/55/16 as an optional size. I have read on other posts that 205/55/16's will rub.

Anyone have input on going up to 205/55 from 205/50? I am considering it primarily due to the fact that there are more tire options in the larger size.
