Please make me feel better 850

Well.. its bad. When we got to the shop, the owner, who has a really good rep and seems an all round decent guy, said right upfront he has never had to replace a pump on a Volvo..that he highly doubted it was the case. figures with our luck, this is that rarity of rarities..the pump is shot to shit. So we had a used one lined up but he is hesitant to use a used part. He was scouring the internet for the best deal used the last i checked in with my fiance..but I am wondering..should I get a second opinion? In any case, the car is going to be sitting for a week or two there, because I don't have 500 bucks give or take lying around for this. So I am very sad and freaked and worrying. Though maybe he will change his tune some when he finds out we are low on cash and not a bottomless pit of dinero. Thoughts anyone?
