fog lights on 850 glt 850 1997

Many states have laws pertaining to front mounted "fog" lights. Actually, what most people call fog lights are not fog lights. If they have clear lenses they are driving lights. If they have amber or yellow lenses they are fog lights. Ever try using a bright clear lensed light in the fog? It's just like using your high beams, useless. The white light reflects off the white fog even more. Thats why true fog lights are amber or yellow, that color is not reflected back at you off the fog.

Anyway, here in New Jersey, we have a law that says if you have driving lights installed (or fog) that they have to go off automatically if you turn on the high beams. If they turn on the high beams at inspection and the fog/driving lights stay on they will fail you. Had this happen to me with one of my Jeeps that I installed a nice set of Hella's on for off roading. Had to go back and install one of those little relay blocks, which tap into the high beam circuit. Most factory installed lights should already do this though, as I think it's a common law, at least they did on my 300ZX.
