S80 with bad front wheel bearing S80 1999

I'm still undecided as to whether or not to have my 1999 S80 T-6 failing transmission replaced. The past weeks I’ve been shopping around for a mechanic that doesn’t work at a Volvo Dealership. Most trany shops won’t even touch the car considering it’s bad history and the computer needed to access the car’s software.

Having said that… I think I’ve found the right place. This shop just happened to have an employee that owns a similar S80 and just recently had a bad transmission. Amazing! What are the odds? And yet Volvo still denies any wide spread issues with these cars!

However, my reason for this post is that the mechanic that drove my car said I should be more concerned about a bad front wheel bearing.

I searched through the archives but didn’t find anything matching S80 and wheel bearings. Anyone with similar problems or opinions please respond.

Thanks
