Engine cuts out, stop to reset S80 2000

Driving the car, runs fine, then starts cutting out, then check engine light comes on, and then pull over safely message, then need to wait 2-5 minutes to restart engine, then runs for a while, then will do at anytime, replaced the Mass air flow senso, does not appear a trans problem, feels like a sensor or something on the engine, any clues ???? Sometimes driving down the road, the car feels like someone lifting up and down on gas pedal. 2.9 non turbo
