Buy a C70 Conv? C70 2000

Sorry to hear about your 960. I have heard before that while they are superb cars, they can sometimes be a bit problematic. Have you tried another Volvo specialist? Maybe he could find the fault.

Back to your question. A FWD Volvo is more complex than a RWD Volvo and thus will likely give you more trouble. That said a C70 is mechanically very close to an S70 and my '99 S70, which has been very well maintained from new, now has 240Kkm (150Kmi) and feels, looks and drives like new. I trust that I will be able to put at least as many kilometers on it again.

Make sure that the car has been well maintained and have a knowledgeable Volvo specialist perform a thorough pre-purchase check. If everything looks good at that point you should be fine.

That said if having a trouble-free car is what you are after, a low-mileage well-maintained late 940 (non-turbo) is probably what you should look for.
