Brake Dust shields- do they work, any downside to them V70-XC70 2001

I also have a 2001 V70 T-5. I bought a set of dust shields and never installed them - I discovered I wash the car all the time (thus the wheels) because the car is black. If you have 17inch wheels I will get them to you pretty cheap.
