Seat Adjustment Problem 850 1994

The automatic back rest is not working properly...motor is running during the application but is not engaging. I took the back of the seat apart and was able to manually lower the back rest with a wrench, but unable to manually bring it in an upright position. Any suggestions on how I can do that manually so I can avoid taking it to a dealer?
