Nashville, TN indy mechanic opinion wanted on q's on A/C Evaporator S70

I have been having trouble with my ac system. This summer I replaced the heater core, blower fan, and the ac compressor and clutch. I then recharged the system and three months later I am showing a leak from the evaporator using the special dye. All the freon has leaked out.

All my work has been done so far by a Volvo mechanic that I completely trust. We discussed the use of some stop leak sealant stuff, but since I basically have a new ac system, this stuff may lead to some expensive problems down the road.

His quote on replacing the evaporator is $1018. I am taking his advice that I should go ahead and bite the bullet, but since this is a lot of money to a college student, I am considering a second opinion. Does anyone know of an independent import/volvo mechanic or shop in the Nashville area.
