Have them do it before you take possesion S70

It should be OK to drive the car a few hundred miles until the t-belt is replaced.

BUT, if I were you and the dealer wants to get rid of the car I would have them replace it before I take possesion, because the risk is on you after you drive it. The dealer should be able to find time to do it right away before the sale.

TIP: lok at the built date tag on the door, if the car was built 3/98 or later, then most likely it has a mechanical tensioner and the t-belt does not need replacing until 105K miles along with the tensioner. My '98 v70 was built on 7/98 and came with the '99 engine with the mechanical tensioner.

If the car has a mechanical tensioner and the dealer says, the t-belt does not need replacement until 105k miles, plead ignorance and have them replace the t-belt and tensioner(you pay for the tensioner, of course) and you'll be set for the next 100k miles.
