Fuel Pump Leak??? 850

At the advice of fellow brickboarders, I removed the fuel pump cover in the trunk to try and determine the source of a fuel smell after fill up. I did not find the leak I thought I would. On the top of the fuel pump are three nipples, two are connected to fuel lines and the third is open. I can see and smell fuel in this third opening.

Does the fuel pump need to be replaced, or is this normal? I really would like to get rid of the fuel smell/leak after a fill up.

Thank you in advance for assistance.
