1994 850 (automatic) Doesn't shift out of 1st when cold

Subject says it all,after it warms up it drives/shifts perfect.I've looked for info,but apparent'y not in the right places.I'm REALLY hoping someone has good news for me ie: trans will live you just have to_________? Anyone?
