SAS valve/air pump/PO410?sanity 850

I am curious if anyone has sucessfuly drilled a hole in the airpump from under the car to drain the water trapped in it ? I am experiencing a PO410 which I was unable to clear with a generic OBD II scanner at Schucks today. Do you need a specific brand to clear this code or do I need to make a trip to a Volvo shop ?
I am planning to replace the valve and clear the code to try to pass emissions in Oregon. I am reluctant to replace the pump from the top because I don't want to disconnect the battery and try to perform the "drive Cycle " to get the car to be "ready status". Any advice would be apreciated.
