Bilstein TCs

Hi, just replaced the rear OEM with TCs almost 2 weeks ago. Also replaced the upper shock mounts with new Febi-Bilstein ones. Ride is great but can be quite uncomfortable especially on rough/uneven roads. This seems to be the general consensus here regarding the TCs.

My question is - do the TCs get softer over time? Do they require a "settling" or "break-in" period?

Also, I installed the TCs myself. Should they be aligned in a particular way? I noticed that the bushing for the lower nut was slightly thicker on one side than the other. What about adding extra washers for the upper retaining nut - do they help?

Thanks!
