1997 T4 Misfire when left and the reused when hot S40-V40

My 97 T4 has a fault the dealer has not been able to find for 50K miles!

If I make a journey so the engine is hot then park for approx 20 mins when I then restart the engine the idle jumps from 50 to 900 rpm and keeps doing this. When driving it clearly is not firing correctly.

Stopping the enging and then starting seems to cure (or if it stalls and is restarted)

Dealer wants to keep it for a few days (which will cost and they are not happy about giving me a loan)

ECU was replaced at 34K to stop the cutting out at high speeds!!!! (a known fault)

Any ideas - current mileage is 80K
