Transmission Fault 850 1996

I actually just got the fluid changed about 500 miles ago, and I checked it right when the arrow started flashing, and it looks fine...

I've been looking over the board, and in the recent past my check engine light has come on (dealer said it wasn't anything) and ever since I bought the car, the reverse lights have intermittenly not worked when I shift into reverse, which is another indicator of the switch going. And now the flashing arrow. I've looked over Bay 13, and I think I can do it myself. Eeuroparts.com has the switch for $99, which is the best I could find so far. Since I'm a student, I may wait until spring when I have more time and money, and just shift between R and D1 for the time being.

When you say remove the console and clean the switch, do you mean I should clean the sport/winter switch along with changing the pnp? Thanks - Justin
