Paul,
The CD changer was optional. It's a 6CD unit and most wagon owners install it under one of the lift up floor panels in the back. Before you buy a 6CD changer, Volvo will let you trade in your radio for an SC816 which has a single CD player builtin (about $320). Plus it is still capable of plugging into a changer.
