is this normal? S70

Well, we had our first snowfall here in the northeast. I just got new tires today too (BF Goodrich Traction TA .. H Rating), at the suggestion of a forum member. I've noticed that on snow the car (and this has always happened even before the new tires) has made a grinding noise while slipping. It sounds very rugged and clicky (it's a hard noise to describe). I'm just wondering if this is part of the TRACS system? Could it be faulty?

BTW the new tires are great and the cornering has GREATLY improved!
