gas latch S70 1998

just bought a used 98 s70 t5. last volvo was a 96 850r sedan. having some similar problems w/ the s70. the gas latch sometimes wont open. is there some lubricant that you all use, and is there an emergency manual latch to pull inside the trunk like the 850's? my dash outside temp thermometer reads about 3-4 degrees warmer than actual. any input on this? overall great car. i miss the ecu upgrade and exhaust i had on the 850.
