heater hose fiasco 850

I was trying to remove the heater oses from my 94 850 and one of the plastic pieces on the coupling (which goes through the firewall and connects to the heater core pipe inside the car) broke off...so now I need to replace the coupling. ANyone ever tackle this? Can I get the coupling swaped out without removing the heater core?
