battery drain 850 1996

I common thing to happen on these 850's is for the glove compartment door to warp and no longer shut off the light. If the cars not driven much this will keep draining the battery until the light burns out. I think the spring in the switch is just too stiff. Try getting some double backed tape and attach a penny to the inside of the door s.t. the light shuts off.
